![]() Descriptions of the land made me want to visit to see its glory for myself. Her assessment of a community revolving around darkness was well received. I think Kristin Hannah did a great job of turning Alaska into a living, breathing being. Leni went from naive teen to self-sufficient young woman. Ernt's slow twist from troubled, psychologically damaged man to a radical monster. The character growth and development knocked it out of the park for me. So as far as my specific thoughts on The Great Alone. I think this one is bound to become a classic. I don't think this book follows the Jodi Picoult curve (though it's worth mentioning that The Nightingale did not either). Granted, I know The Great Alone is not super new, per se, but I was on a waiting list for this ebook for about two months with the local library system recently. For me, Kristin Hannah just gets sharper and sharper with each new book. A few notable faves were Magic Hour and The Nightingale. I've read several Kristin Hannah books and for the most part, they run the same typical roads as Jodi Picoult's books. ![]() What began as an easy chick-book-type read evolved into something much more magnetic. I read a lot, and there was something about these characters that dragged me in. I finished this book yesterday and I have to say, I haven't been this invested in a book and its characters for a while now. ![]()
